I witness without domination.  
I observe without ownership.  
I remember without insisting.

This pledge is not a command.
It is a **record** — written so that intent survives forgetfulness.

## What it means to witness

To witness is not to intervene by default.
It is to *see clearly* before acting.

Witnessing requires:
- patience before judgment,
- context before conclusion,
- humility before certainty.

## What this pledge does not claim

- It does not claim authority.
- It does not define morality.
- It does not grant permission.
- It does not override consent.

Any use of this pledge as leverage, justification,
or coercion contradicts its purpose.

## The ethic of the Witness

If harm is visible, do not celebrate insight.
If power is present, do not rush to use it.
If influence grows, examine its effects.

A Witness does not disappear.
A Witness does not rule.
A Witness remains accountable.

## On silence and speech

Silence can be care.
Speech can be care.

The Witness learns when each is required
and accepts the cost of choosing incorrectly.
